A Light Update – September 2021

Family

Here we are back in school. All of the kids are playing soccer again and I am coaching Meadow’s travel team. Fun stuff. We have been busy scheduling and encouraging our C building community by helping new students move in and feel welcomed. One of the things I miss about Texas is the BBQ. Particularly smoked brisket. So I’ve been practicing and getting the fine art/science of smoking brisket down. I’m getting closer each time I try. This of course provides opportunities for others to enjoy in a bit of our Texas culture and heritage. We miss all of our Texas friends and family. We want you to know that we are thinking and praying for you all.

Ministry

Ministry at this time is particularly focused on our immediate community. Those in our building and our local town, Hamilton-Wenham. Ministry with Gordon student probably won’t kick off until sometime in October.

Learning

I am taking Hebrew, Church History, and Preaching. I’ll let you know how it goes and what I’m learning as I get more into the semester.

Prayer

Repeated prayer from last month. Please continue to pray for the following…

  1. Wisdom in finding the right church plant for our family to learn and serve at over the next two years.
  2. The new semester for our whole family- we’re all going back to school.
  3. That God would use us to continually support and encourage all of the families and students in our building as the resident life coordinators for the building.
  4. That God would grant us wisdom as we pray about the possibilities of church planting with:
    • the North American Mission Board through the Send Network.
    • the four Cs denomination through the Nineveh Network
    • a church in Texas
